The Family Store Tours

Walk back in time with History@Hand as we take you on a 1.5 hour tour pointing out locations of some of the 400 plus Jewish businesses documented for the Family Store Exhibit.

Hear stories of business men and women, some of whom came to Asheville before 1880 and get a sense of what Asheville was like in those early years.

Learn about Asheville’s vibrant Jewish community, which has supported two synagogues since the 1890s and is the smallest Jewish community in America to support a Jewish Community Center founded in 1940. Today it also boasts a Jewish Day school, Chabad congregation, the Center for Jewish Studies at University of North Carolina—Asheville, a Jewish Festival, a Jewish Film Festival and lots of events.

Call 828-777-1014 to make a reservation.
Price is $20 adult, $12 student.

Group Tours are also available. All tours include stops inside historic sites depending on their hours of operation.
